Tree Services on the Coast
A lot of our work is up the Hibiscus Coast, and some of our longest-standing customers are here - one Orewa couple has had us looking after their trees at different properties for more than ten years. The coast is its own kind of tree work: sea views people want kept, gardens that take the full force of the wind, steep sections on the peninsula, and a lot of very tall palms.
Views, hedges and the wind
On a coastal section the hedge is often doing two jobs at once - shelter from the wind and privacy from the street - while the owner wants it no higher than the view. Tall hedges are trimmed flat and level to a height you choose, and trees that have grown up into the view can be reduced or lifted rather than removed.
Palms in beach gardens
Tall Washingtonia, fan and phoenix palms are part of a lot of coastal gardens, and plenty of them are now well above the roofline. When they are dropping fronds on the roof or have simply got too tall, we take them down in sections, and by crane truck where they are hard up against the house or the lines - see palm tree removal.
Steep sections and banks
Much of the Whangaparaoa Peninsula is hills and gullies, and plenty of properties have an overgrown bank or a big pine or gum above the house. Steep access changes how a tree comes down, not whether it can; we cover it when we quote.
Trees near the coast
Auckland Council rules can protect trees and vegetation on or near steep coastal cliffs and within 150 metres of the high tide mark, as well as notable trees and trees in Significant Ecological Areas. On a beachfront or cliff-top section, check your address on the council's GeoMaps viewer before any removal, or ask us at the quote and we will help with any permits or permissions needed.
